The
aim of the project Roots of the Xavante People is the edition
of a photograph book with 144 pages, size 27 X 30cm, 120 full-color
photos, an exhibition and performance of Dance of the Xavantes
Indians.
|
| The
book and the exhibition will show a visual rescue of the culture
of the Xavantes Indians, their day-by-day life and the several
rituals which compound the essence of their habits. Now-a-days
there are 206 Indian ethnic groups speaking 180 different languages. |
| The
Xavantes Indians belong to the trunk of the linguistic group
GÊ; they live in villages in the middle of the "cerrado" and
now-a-days they are around 7 500 Indians who live in 7 reserved
areas in Mato Grosso. This work has been developed in the village
of Pimentel Barbosa, by invitation of the community. |
